How to Use GlucoPlot Without a Glucose Sensor
You don't need a sensor. Log a meal and GlucoPlot shows an estimated response for foods like it, clearly marked as an estimate — and the Coach finds patterns in your own week.
Most people who use GlucoPlot have never worn a glucose sensor, and the app doesn't need one. What it needs is your meals. From those it can show what foods like yours typically do, and — more usefully — what your weeks have in common.
Getting set up
Log a meal from a photo
Tap the plus button and snap your plate. The app works out the foods, portions, calories and macros. Check it, fix anything that's off, and save. Voice, text, barcode and label scanning work too — see logging a meal from a photo.
Look at the estimated response
Once a meal with carbohydrates is saved, the dashboard draws an estimated curve and marks it Est. It is calculated on your phone from the meal's carbohydrate, fibre, protein and fat — how foods like this tend to behave, not a reading from your body.
Let a couple of weeks build up
Patterns need repetition. After a week or two, the Coach tab starts describing what holds across your meals, sleep and movement, and the meals list ranks your own meals by their estimated load.
Pick one focus
In Coach, choose a single habit for the week — protein at breakfast, fibre, three logged meals, water, steps. The rule each one is judged by is written on the card. See how the Coach works.
What an estimate is, and isn't
An estimate tells you how a meal like this one usually behaves. It cannot know how you slept, whether you walked afterwards, or how your own body handles rice. Two people can eat the same plate and respond quite differently. Treat it as a way to compare your meals with each other, not as a measurement. The app never shows an estimated number as though it were measured.
If you do try a sensor later
Nothing changes in how you log. Readings arrive through Apple Health or Health Connect, and the meals you log while wearing one are marked as measured. When you log the same meal again after the sensor comes off, the app can show how it went last time. The walk-through is in pairing a sensor with a food log.
GlucoPlot is a general wellness app. This article is informational and is not medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. Everyone responds to food differently — talk to a qualified healthcare professional about your own health, and never change medication or treatment based on anything you read here or see in the app.
